E-Power-wise Program, Northeastern Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania Power and Light Electric Utilities funded the E-Power-wise Program to meet its low- income household energy reduction program requirement. E-Power-wise helps families help themselves by adopting energy saving behavioral changes and by installing energy saving products in their homes.
The program delivery concept uses existing organizations serving low- income clients. As a sub-consultant to Resource Action Group, Urbecon formulated and executed the outreach strategy with local community based organizations. Urbecon designed training modules and trained agency staff who, in turn train their clients and provide them with a kit of simple energy savings measures such as compact fluorescent bulbs, thermometers and water saving devices. Motivational incentives encourage clients to take actions to use energy more efficiently, save money, and reduce their carbon footprint. 35 community -based organizations delivered the training and retrofit kits to over 6,000 low-income households.
